Our VP of Media, Gabi Cohen, was recently interviewed at AdTech New York by celebrity affiliate blogger Murray Newlands (we follow his blog and he’s a great read). The interview in its entirety, was posted on the Affiliate Summit site but we’ve embedded it here, for your viewing pleasure.  The part where she gets to the FAST LANE promotion is sort of muffled, if you want to know more about it check this out.

Run, Shawn, Run!

Hey Readers, here’s some interesting news from the affiliate blogosphere:
Just heard about Shawn Collins (of Affiliate Summit fame) and this very unique and cool-sounding 5K he’s doing in NYC for cancer research. He’s calling all affiliates to join him in the run. We’ll be at Ad:Tech New York one week earlier and I am particularly disappointed that we won’t be able to stay and join Shawn.

But hey, that doesn’t mean YOU can’t do it!
Read his full post here. If you’ll be in NYC on November 15th, get out from behind the laptop and get moving!

Adsmarket Returns from ASE09 – Where’s My T-shirt?

Posted on Sunday, September 6, 2009 in Conventions and Exhibitions, Uncategorized, affiliate summit

Maor and Joel here, what's up?

Idan Meets PlayStation

I apologize for the lengthy hiatus. What can I say? It was August, hot, and the summer holiday opps beckon to all of us! But now we are back to the blog, and with our return, a few words about Affiliate Summit East, which rocked New York City from August 9-11.

I think it’s important to mention that the details recounted here will be recollected through the fog of a long flight from New York, and after what felt like 5 days of non-stop networking (read: partying at AMAZING NYC locales). We’ve got all our pictures on Flickr, and you can catch them here or by using our handy blog toolbar (click the tiny butterfly icon to see a slideshow).

Gabi Cohen, Adsmarket’s VP of Media, had this to say about ASE09:
“We had the great opportunity to meet publishers who understand the potential that lies outside the US, want to increase their non-US revenue, and who were looking for international offers outside the usual verticals and hadn’t yet found the right partner for that. Now they understand that we are the right partner to expand with."

Highlights from ASE from Maor Sadra, regular blog contributor and Director of Sales:
"My first day as a sales team member at an affiliate convention was total culture shock. We went to the aptly named "meet market", which was was boisterously loud. Everyone was dressed casually, and blatantly stared at each other’s, ahem, name tags to identify Purple (Affiliate), Red (Network), Orange (Merchant) or Green (Agency). I couldn’t walk 2 feet without someone stopping me to check my tag. I felt rather violated…

After about an hour of trying to walk around, I got the hang of things and started chatting up with random people within the hall, and that was the amazing part. There were so many professional people from all around the world, all coming to interact and find opportunities, and people I’ve been working with over email suddenly got a face.

For Days 2 and 3, we had a booth at the main hall. I pre-scheduled most of my meetings, so I didn’t spend a lot of time at the booth itself, which turned out to be a mistake. There was a lot of companies that came up to our booth which I did not expect to meet there…I finished 3 boxes of business cards within 2 days!

A couple of things I learned in ASE:

  • The more years you are in this industry, the more you are reminded that the world is very small. Many are the same people you worked with in the past, with different titles and company logos.
  • When you pack for Affiliate Summit, pack a LOT of energy drinks. You’re going to need it!
  • New York Ice Cream Floats are way too sweet than what they should be.

Last thing I’ll say is: See You in Vegas for Affiliate Summit West!!!"

We left our cards in San Francisco

Posted on Thursday, April 30, 2009 in Conventions and Exhibitions, Uncategorized

Okay, that was a cheesy title.  I wonder how many other affiliate networks will name their ad:tech blog posts the same way?

Our team just got back from ad:tech San Francisco, and after a 4 day whirlwind of meetings and parties, Ben Weinstock, our Director of Publisher Relations, and Liat Arbesman, one of our Publisher Recruiters, had this to say about the world-famous affiliate marketing exhibition:

“My personal feeling was that despite the atmosphere of economic recession, or perhaps because of it, meetings and conversation were much more profound and thorough.  People are looking into how to enhance quality traffic and make sure they get the highest return on their buy.  After all at the end of the day it’s all about ROI.

Another amazing thing is that most of the stronger players in the social media field come from the Bay Area, which made it a great opportunity for me to me to meet all of them in 72 hours.”

-           Ben Weinstock

“The conference was great! Our purpose was to meet as many of our clients and to find new potential affiliates and publishers that are interested in international campaigns to monetize their traffic. All the big players were there!

One cool thing they did was set up an area called the Affiliate Garden on the second floor which was a good place to mix. On the first day for example, they did a happy hour with free drinks.  It was a good way to start the parties.  There were so many parties, it was hard to choose where to go!

And the Twitter Monitor was really cool – I got constant updates about the conference on the monitor all weekend.

Great show, I wish I had had one more day to catch all the parties I missed!”

-          Liat Arbesman

All in all, it was a great conference!

We are going to be at a bunch more coming up: eComExpo from July 8-9, Affiliate Summit East from August 9-11, and ad:tech London from September 22-23.
